The stretch of road is called “The Most Scenic 52 miles in America” and I have to agree, it truly is spectacular. The rock formations are marvelous and Bob has them all named, for example you’ll see “The Goose” or “Mother Grundy and Little Cowboy”. One of the most special times to drive this road is in the winter, when the Big Horn Mountain Sheep are wintering in the valley. They lay right next to the road and climb the cliffs along side you. The rams are usually putting on a display of fighting or standing majestically in a picturesque background. It is a very special time in the valley. Actually, it is one of many special times in the valley. I encourage you to experience this special place.

Buffalo Bill Cody was instrumental in developing the town of Cody and is credited to having made it the thriving place it is today. Among his many accomplishments, some of his most memorable are in his vision to bring irrigation into the Big Horn Basin with his work on the Buffalo Bill Dam; he was an avid hunter and promoter of bringing tourists through the East Entrance to Yellowstone National Park; and he owned and operated the TE Cattle Ranch and promoted agricultural development in the Cody and Big Horn Basin areas.
Buffalo Bill also developed the downtown commerce and tourism industry, including the building of The Irma Hotel, a Cody icon and National Historic Landmark.
